The margin is a good place to think. It is small enough that nothing written there has to be finished, and close enough to the source that the note keeps its context.
Capture without a system
Elaborate systems fail because they add friction at exactly the moment an idea is most fragile. A single running file, in date order, outperforms an ontology almost every time.
Reread on purpose
Notes are only useful if they come back around. Set a standing hour to read the last month of them. Most will be noise. One or two will connect to something you are working on now, and that connection is the entire point of keeping them.
